Race update
Some people have been asking about the upcoming marathon and other races. Well the training is going fine. Dan and I both feel that we have gotten strong in our running skill but we just want the marathon to get here now. We have been running for around 5 to 6 months getting ready and now that it is almost here we can’t wait. We run our 20 miler Saturday and then the mileage goes down from there. Can’t wait. The Marathon is the Sunday the 22nd of October were will be running with 44,000 people. The actually have to have a cut off of 44,000 people. I know some people that didn’t get in the race it was already filled up. Dan and I overall goal is to finish it but we won’t mind break 4 hrs either. We will see how we feel after the 20 miles and 25 miles.
The week before the marathon we will be running in the Sunshine 10k run in Springfield MO. We are going to just run in the race and not actually compete that hard since we have the Marathon the next week. I know it will be hard for me to keep back just because the Sunshine is one of my favorite races. This year it has moved for the hospital campus and this year it will be starting and finishing at the Cardinals stadium here in town. It is going to be so hard not to push it. If you are in the Springfield the weekend of the 14th come to the stadium and cheer us and the rest of the runners on or if you don’t want to be stuck in traffic don’t head that way that morning.
The week after the marathon Dan and I usually run the MSU Homecoming 5k race. I won’t know how we feel that week but we are going to try to run it. We might be walking funny that week. I hear Marathons do funny things to a body so don’t laugh at me if you see me the week after.
After the Homecoming 5k we have some time off till Thanksgiving where I will be running in the Turkey Trot. If you are in town on Thanksgiving you should run it or come and watch. The Turkey Trot is a 5k race and it is so much fun because after you are done you can eat all the food you want for Thanksgiving.
So just for those who have been asking about the Marathon and other up coming races there is the low down. I feel real strong this after running all the mileage I have ran but I must watch it so don’t hurt myself over doing it.
