Fun times in my life...

For those that remembered I ran in the Sunshine 10k (6.2 miles) this weekend. Well here is the play-by-play wrap up.
I went to go pick up Dan at the LSC where we preceded to go to St Johns where the race would start. I was nervous because last year I hurt myself in this race and did want to do that again.
We got there were Dan and I ran around to warm up before the race. Now I haven’t had anybody run around with me in years. I have usually been on my own for races but having somebody there kept my mind off the race.
I had a little trouble with my shorts. The shorts that I have worn for the last two years in all of my races had stretched out. Now yes I could have pulled the drawstrings but they didn’t have those. They were a prefect size for the last two years. I had to find some other shorts or I would either being hold them up most of the race or they would fall down. Thank good ness to back up plans I remember that I had a kept an extra pair in my running bag. THANK GOODNESS!!! I always try to have a back-up plan.
At the starting line where I think Dan was about to knock me one. I kept question things. But right before the gun went off I got into running mode were I was as ready as I was going to be. Dan wasn’t planning on running with me but as the gun went off we went out together. We ran a good pace for the first mile or so then I start speeding up where he kept going with me. Around the 3-mile stage he started to falling back where he said his shines and knee were starting to go so he said go on. So knowing I was on my own I went out to catch as many people as I could but not o kill one self. I saw a women that looked like an old professor at the 4 mile so I went after her. I caught her at the 6 mile mark and a tired to get her to go with me but she couldn’t so she said go one but then she told the guys in front of us to start to sprint and I said was thinking don’t’ tell the that. So my instincts kicked in and I put the afterburners on and I was gone. I jetted past them and maybe two more people on the way in. Thanks to all who was behind us and thank you to Jen Haglund and Donna for coming out in the cold to cheer us on.
The official time for me was:
47th place
6th in my age group
Clock time: 43:23
Chip time: 43:19
Average mile pace 7:00
Ok back to Friday nite. My Jen, sorry I like saying that, and I went out Friday nite to see “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” and it was good except for the ending. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. Movies are good to get your mind of the next day race. Then Saturday Jen came over to my place where we watched movies until her friends called us to invite us to meet them. We met them at eh Mudd Lounge downtown were talked until like 12 or so. Her friends are from Jefferson City and went to Helias so we had some good laughs. One of them use to manage for the track and cross country team so we had some really good stories. Jefferson city and Helias are hometown rivals. It was a fun nite.
Each nite Jen and I went out I was sick and we still went out and had a great time.Sunday went to church and then met up with my parents who were in town for lunch and to catch up. Then that evening the Missy and Mandy came over were we had a great adventure exploring the under part of an over pass. Fun times!!!
